Let me start from where I left off in May.
I had an interview with Kurt Geiger and although I loved the prospect of the job, working with shoes wasn't where I needed to be. So I applied for a job with House of Fraser and got it! I now work full time (35.5 hours a week) and am currently managing the brand Biba, world renowned brand from the 60s and 70s, and am learning a lot about how to look after the sales of the garments.
This job has given me the necessary funds to move into a new place in St George, Bristol with my boyfriend Jackson and set me up to begin designing the newest of my collections.
I wont be in this job forever in fact, I would like to be in London working as a buyer or something of the like, come this time next year.
Its a very exciting time for me and I will start as I mean to go on.
A few days ago, I was feeling down about getting reeled in to the world of fashion retail and felt as though my creativity was being consumed by work. After a brief pep talk and a few tears, I got off my butt and started researching and creating for my newest collection for Autumn/ Winter 2015/16.
This collection is inspired by the natural glitches that happen in computing but also in other forms. I have been experimenting with what I call 'Analog Glitches' whereby I cut and modify images I find to make them look as if they have been corrupted by a computer. I have also experimented with applying bleach to photographs and printing on a printer that is almost out of ink. These processes have yielded fantastic results and I have also been using photoshop to alter images I have taken myself.
My sketchbook is growing and I feel a light entering my self that I haven't felt in a while. The new found excitement of a fledgling romance with my work.
I'll leave you to ponder those late night sentiments with a few image of my work so far.
