As is often the case when I find myself near or in The Galleries Shopping Centre, Broadmeads, I found myself in the large WHSmiths browsing the endless fashion and styling magazines on display.
The boyfriend has wandered off an left me to muse over my decision to chose another fashion 'zine' as my regular read. These days I feel increasingly aged in my knowledge of whats "cool" in the fashion world. I feel like a mum who is trying to fit slang words into her dialogue with her children and getting it completely wrong.
I have, on my new shelving units at the apartment, a shelf dedicated to September issues of Vogue and when a friend of mine, currently entering her final year of her fashion degree, comes over and says "Oh Vogue, it's kind of.... I don't feel like it offers what I want anymore", it gets me thinking that maybe I've been subscribing to the wrong end of fashion.
I mean, god knows that Vogue is still the bible of the trend setter but I have started to wonder whether there isn't something to be said for playing the field. Metaphorically speaking of course!
So as I'm looking at all these magazines, "Dazed", "10", "Love", "Industrie", I'm wondering whether it might be time to trade in and maybe start looking at what else these brilliant and creative fashion minds, that I have left untouched, have to offer me.
So next week is the monthly celebration of Pay Day and I am making it my mission to buy in a couple of these weighty new fashion journals and sit down with a cup of instant and see what love I can inspire within myself for one of these.
I think that there will always be a place in my heart for Vogue but maybe now, only once a year when September comes around.

In other news, its that time again where a hundreds of people watch as the new collections for Autumn/ Winter 2014/15 are marched down the catwalks at London Fashion Week. I have only ever visited the illustrious Graduate Fashion week before so it has always been a goal for me to at least attend the Vodafone London Fashion Weekend to see some good old fashioned...well.... fashion!
As I work full time it will be a case of finding out hurriedly what my days off will be and booking a coach ASAP but I'm positive this will be a resounding success. As with most things, I must continue my research as to what I will be seeing and I will no doubt be blogging during the events too so, needless to say, I am excited!
WIth my ticket I will also be getting a limited edition tote bag, designed by renowned fashion designer, Lulu Guinness. I am a self proclaimed 'bag-hag' so you can understand the level of excitement that instills in me!
So keep your peepers peeled because there will be a lot more content from me as I continue to experiment with glitch art and begin my quest to find my new magazine crush.
